Narrative breakdown - The Healer's Apprentice

Kia ora readers,

Today I am going to share you my Narrative breakdown - The Healer's Apprentice. Here is my presentation.

‘The Healer’s Apprentice’

By Renata Hopkins

We are learning to identify elements of a narrative.

Fill in the table below with the details from the story you read.

Narrative Structure
Main Character
Mara a helper
Supporting Characters
Lonan, the eldest healer
Antagonists
(Bad Characters)
Bran, making fun of Mara
Problem
Bran was making fun of Mara's face. He didn’t show kindness to
Mara.
Solution
Mara just ignored Bran and she went outside the castle. She saw
Rowan trees and red thread. The healers used the red berries of the
Roman trees to treat variuos ailments.
Problem
A wild boar emerged from the bushes. Mara felt for her knife as the
animal grunted, lowered its head, and charged.
Solution
Mara darted aside, leaping for the nearest tree. After she fell from the
branch that is narrow, Mara sprang upright, holding the knife, but the
boar had only charged because its path was blocked. It was gone as
quickly as it had appeared.
Problem
Mara heard someone graning of pain, coming from the woods below.
She looked for it and was surprised that it was Bran. Bran’s breath
came in gasps, and he’s lower leg was red and swollen, to tidy
puncture marks in the middle. An adder bit him. He asked Mara to
help him.
Solution
Even Bran is not kind to Mara, she helped him. She began to look for
a strong, forked stick to make a crutch and walked on the journey
home.
Climax
Bran whispered sorry to Mara for being rude to her.
Resolution and Ending
Mara was kind and helpful to others. Ready to learn to be a good
healer.

Narrative Writing - Red boots Farmer

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to share my narrative story about girl named Hannah, The title is "Red Boots Farmer". Here is my story.

Red Boots Farmer

Once upon a time, there was a girl Hannah who lived in a village near the forest.

After three months, she went out in the forest, wearing red boots, dressed like a
villager with farmer hat, so everyone in the village called her “Red boots farmer”.
Hannah asked her mother if she could prepare a basket of snack to take it to the
forest. When the basket is ready, Hannah kissed her mother and said goodbye.
“Remember, do not come back late. Enjoy your day and be careful.” mother said.

When Hannah reached the forest, she noticed some lovely flowers and some changes in
the area. The trees and grasses were growing higher than the last time she saw it three
months ago. There were some animals such as deer and foxes, a forest man and a
small haunted house. The animals that she has never seen before.

Hannah enjoyed exploring the forest until she realized how time flies so fast. She
quickly rushed down the path to go home.

A few minutes later, the Red boots farmer knocked on the door. Hannah's mom
opened it and gave her a big hug. Hannah did have a great time walking in the forest.

Proving My Thinking 4

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to share my thinking about Taro leaves to split it for 4 families. Here is my solution.

Tasi has picked 52 taro leaves from the back garden.
These taro leaves will be shared with 4 families.
How many leaves will they each get?

I think the answer is 13 taro leaves for 4 families because I know my division.
52 divided by 4 = 13

I also know the answer is 13 because I know my multiplication.
13 x 4 = 52

I can show that each family of 4 has 13 taro leaves by showing it by fraction and addition.

¼ = 13
2/4 = 26
¾ = 39
4/4 = 52

13 + 13 + 13 + 13 = 52

Captain James Cook

Hello readers.

Today I am going to share a story called Captain James Cook. The story is about Captain James and his crew voyages . Here is the story.

Captain James Cook

James Cook was born in Marton-in-Cleveland, England on
the 27th October 1728. His father was a farm worker. At the
age of 18, he became a merchant sailor. He soon changed
to the navy and began a successful career.

First Voyage
In 1768, Cook became the commander of a voyage to the
Pacific. Cook's ship was called the Endeavour. His first job
was to sail to Tahiti and observe the planet Venus pass in
front of the Sun. He was also given an envelope with secret
instructions. The instructions told him to find the ‘Great
Southern Continent.’ Those on board the ship included
astronomer Charles Green and botanist Joseph Banks. After
Tahiti, Cook first visited New Zealand and then New Holland
(Australia).

Cook Arrives in New Zealand and Australia
In September 1769 Cook reached New Zealand. He was the
second European to visit after Abel Tasman, 127 years
earlier. Cook charted the coast of New Zealand and then
went on to be the first European to reach the east coast of
Australia. In Australia, he first stopped at Botany Bay, where
he studied the animals, plants and local people. While
sailing up the coast his ship was damaged by the coral reef.
Once his ship was repaired, he sailed to Cape York. At Cape
York, he claimed New Holland to be part of the British
Empire. Cook and his crew returned to England in 1771.

Later Voyages
Cook went on two more voyages. In 1772, he sailed farther
south than any other human in history at that time. He also
visited Easter Island. In 1776, he tried to sail around the top
of North America to Asia. This was called the Northwest
Passage. He was unsuccessful. Instead, he sailed on to
Hawaii. In Hawaii, Cook and his men got along with the local
people at first. Then someone stole one of Cook’s boats. To
get it back, he kidnapped a chief. The local people attacked
and Cook was killed.
