Proving my Thinking 3

Hello readers.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I am going to show you another Math problem and proving my thinking with solution. Here is my presentation.

Richard's Mum needs to order ti pani flowers (frangipani) to make ei katu (flower headband)
for his sister’s wedding. There are 16 people in the bridal party and each ei katu needs 28 ti
pani flowers. How many flowers will Richard’s mum need to order?

I think the answer is 448 flowers because I use multiplication. 16  x 28 = 448

I also know the answer is 448 because I know my addition.
28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 + 28 = 448

I can show that there are 448 flowers by using addition and multiplication.

Ei katu ei katu ei katu
28 ei katu 28 ei katu 28
28 28
Ei katu ei katu ei katu
28 ei katu 28 ei katu 28
28 28
Ei katu ei katu ei katu
28 ei katu 28 ei katu 28
28 28
Ei katu
28

28 x 4 = 112 28 x 3 = 84    28 x 3 = 84 28 x 3 = 84 28 x 3 = 84

112 + 84 + 84 +84 + 84 = 448

I hope you learnt something how I solved my Math problem. Please leave a comment if you have other way to prove your answer. Have a great day!

Narrative Breakdown - Secret Spy

Hello everyone,

I have read a book that is called EJ Spy School Secret Spy. EJ is learning how to use secret spy tools. But then the lesson becomes a real mission! Here is the Narrative Breakdown I made.

‘EJ Spy School Secret Spy’

By Susannah McFarlane

We are learning to identify elements of a narrative.

Fill in the table below with the details from the story you read.

Narrative Structure
Main Character
Emma Jacks, an eight-year-old agent, code name is Agent EJ10,
learning to be a spy at the SHINE Spy School.
Supporting Characters
A1, head of SHINE
Professor IQ400 is in charge of SHINE lab and makes spy tools to
help agents on missions.
Antagonists
(Bad Characters)
SHADOW is a secret agency like SHINE but they do bad things and
must be stopped.
Problem
Professor IQ400 showed some spy tools to EJ10. A pink lunch box
that has her name on it. Looking closely at the lunch box, she knew
it was not a normal lunch box. Inside there was a banana and a
sandwich box. EJ10 was confused about the lunch box.
Solution
Professor IQ400 explained to EJ10 that the banana wasn’t real. It’s a
spy-banana with a hidden camera and can use the banana-cam to
take photos and send it to them by pressing the buttons. The
sandwich box is a spy-lunch maker. Inside, there was a key-ring with
a skateboard on it. After twisting the rin, the board began to shake
and turned into a full-size skateboard.
Problem
A1 have a problem with the butterfly-cam. It is a robot butterfly with a
camera that is so tiny and it was sending pictures of Gruun Park but
it stopped.
Solution
A1, IQ400 and EJ10 took the SHINE bus to the park. EJ10 mission is
to find butterfly-cam and report to them. EJ10 used spyglasses to
help see things that are far away. EJ10 hopped of the bus then she
started skating along the path. IQ400 had sent the pictures for the
butterfly-cam to EJ’s spy watch to give her a clue where to find it.
Problem
EJ began to rise up into the trees. EJ zoomed around the trees
looking for the nest with eggs. Finally she saw it in a large branch
but she heard something. A kitten meowing. It was a black kitten
with something on it’s collar with tiny wings. Than EJ sent the photo
to A1. A1 asked EJ to bring kitten and butterfly-cam to the bus but
when EJ moved slowly towards the kitten, it moved away. It was
scared and moved higher and higher up the tree
Solution
EJ had an idea. She opened her lunchbox and took out her sandwich
box. EJ turned the dial to ‘TUNA’. EJ took out a tuna sandwich. She
put it on her board and waited. The kitten smelled the fish. It moved
towards EJ. then it began eating the tuna from the sandwich. Now
EJ gently took the butterfly-cam.
Climax
EJ saw the word SHADOW on the kitten’s collar. And she wondered
what is that EJ swooped back up to the tree-tops so she can’t be
seen as she saw her school class arriving for sports.
Resolution and Ending
The back door of the bus opened EJ zoomed in. No one saw her. A1
gave her a Spy Tool badge. EJ asked what is SHADOW to A1. A1
explained it is a secret agency like SHINE. SHADOW do bad things
and must be stopped. EJ next lesson is Animal Rescue.

Proving my Thinking 2

Hello everyone.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I have solved my Math in proving my thinking by using multiplication, addition and division. Here is my solution.

If it takes 45 minutes for Sione to help his brothers with their homework. How much time

does Sione spend in 14 days helping his brothers?

I think the answer is 630 minutes because I know my multiplication. 45 mins x 14 days = 630 mins

I also know the answer is 630 mins because I know my addition.
45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 + 45 +45 = 630

I also know my division to see how much time does Sione spend in 14 days helping his brothers by hours.

630 mins divided by 60 mins = 10 hours and 30 mins for 14 days.

I hope you learnt something about my post. You may have a different way how to solve it. Please leave a comment and have a wonderful day.

Math Challenge using Measurements

Welcome visitors!

It is a wonderful day today and I hope you feel the same way too. I am glad you have visited my blog post and I thought you will like this.

Today, I am going to post my Math Challenge that I did last week and explain how I solved it.
I watched a gif. on giphy.com about inserting different shapes of cardboard that can fit inside the box. Here is the screenshot of it.

I drew some lines the same thing as this picture above on a cardboard without any measurements. Then I cut it following the lines. There were some question if I could mathematically prove a statement in a task. I chose a question about comparing sizes: 3 and 4 are the same size as 2.  Here are the screenshot of the task.

To prove if 3 and 4 are the same size as 2, I used a ruler to measure each side of shapes. I found out that the shape 2 is longer than shapes 3 and 4. Here is the study that I made.

I like this learning today because measuring is fun to do. I hope you learned why measurements are important to compare sizes on this blog. Thank you for reading my blog. Please leave a comment if you have other way to solve my Math Challenge. Have a great day.mat
