Proving My Thinking 5

Kia ora readers

Today I am going to share my Math thinking by proving it with solution. Here is my presentation.

Mary’s family is setting up the hall for her brother’s 21st birthday

party. They are expecting 163 guests including themselves.
If 14 seats fit around a table. How many tables would they need?
How many seats would be empty?

I think the tables they need are 12 tables because I know my multiplication
14 x 12 = 168

I also know they need 12 tables because I know my addition.
14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14= 84
14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 = 84
84 + 84 = 168

Since they are only expecting 163 guests including themselves, 168 seats are greater than 163.
I think 5 seats are empty because I know my subtraction.

168 - 163 = 5

Thank you for reading my blog post I hope you learnt something from it. Please leave a comment
